LICE THE HUMAN PARASITE

Bristolian satirical art-punks LICE once described themselves as a "wart on the South London scene". Separated by miles but fused together through music, attitude and friendship, LICE make socially-aware swampy punk music with a touch of sleaze. Their excellent stand-alone single 'The Human Parasite' was unleashed yesterday on brand new record label Big Score, run by the guys behind HMLTD, Goat Girl, Dead Pretties and Sorry (fka Fish), so watch this space! Singer Alastair Shuttleworth's rambling Mark E. Smith-esque vocals expose the vulgarity of being human above the persistant groove of Johnson's eery bassline and Dilkes' careful, yet dirty fret-work building and dropping in intensity throughout before exploding into a filthy wall of noise. LICE play Portsmouth Psych Fest alongside Bo Ningen and Ulrika Spacek this Saturday at the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea. - HLMX
